TUCKER, Mary GARIETY - A short funeral service for Mrs. Mary Gariety Tucker, aged 67 years, eight months and nine days, well known former Bentonville resident whose death occurred at a St. Joseph, Mo. hospital on Monday morning, January 16th, 1933 following a long illness, was held in the mausoleum at the Bentonville cemetery at 3 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, conducted by the Rev. Dwight E. Lewis, pastor of the Bentonville Christian Church. Interment was in the mausoleum where rests her hus-band, the late T. Omer Tucker, widely known former Bentonville resident and founder of the T.O. Tucker Abstract Company of this place. Miss Mary Gariety was born in Richmond, Virginia on May 7th, 1865. While still a girl she came with her parents to Bentonville, Ark. and continued to live here for many years. She was married here on May 21st, 1887 to T.O. Tucker. There were no children born into their home but they filled this void by adopting a niece of Mrs. Tucker who, as Frances Tucker, was from her adoption as a very small child the greatest joy and pride of their lives, and whose affection for and loyalty and devotion to her adopted parents has ever been as great as if she were their own by birth. In March 1918 Mrs. Tucker was bereft of her husband and since that time had lived in Kansas City with her daughter, Miss Frances Tucker, who for some years has been a teacher of home economics in one of the Kansas City high schools. Mrs. Tucker was reared in the Catholic Church but after her marriage became a member of the Christian Church to which her husband belonged. She leaves to mourn her passing her daughter, Miss Frances Tucker; two sisters, Mrs. B. Shank of Bellingham, Wash. and Mrs. M. Danahy of Kansas City, and a nephew, Dan Danahy, also of Kansas City. She is also survived by many friends including a large circle of old Bentonville neighbors and other good friends here who well remember Mr. and Mrs. Tucker and their daughter.
