Johnny Lee Bell, 83, of Dyer died Sunday, Nov. 15, 2009, in his home.

He was born April 28, 1926, in Austin, Texas, to the late Robert L. and Dovie Dotson Bell.

He was a beloved husband, father and a real cowboy who loved his family and his horses and pets. He was a member of Dyer Baptist Church and retired water department manager for the city of Dyer.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Rickey Lavine and Michael Shawn Lavine; his twin sister, Alma D.; and a sister, Hazel.

Funeral service was at Ocker Chapel of Alma with burial at Dyer Cemetery in Dyer under the direction of Ocker of Alma Funeral Home of Alma.


He is survived by his wife, Dora Bell of the home; two daughters, Brenda Bradley of Fort Smith and Sherie Lake of Dyer; two sisters, Lila Hyslop and Nellie Marley, both of Austin; his best friends, Wayne Leakey and Danny Morris; six grandchildren, Stephen, Angela, Amy, Shawn, Bonnie and Josh; six great-grandchildren; one honorary great-grandson, Evan Leakey; and one great-great-grandson.

Pallbearers were Danny Morris, Jimmy Richey, Stryker Leakey, Gary Dale Richey, Kenneth Rosson and Tim Julian.

Honorary pallbearers were Wayne Leakey, Jason Rock, Theo Avlos, Kenneth Gregory and Richard Leakey.

Dora Elizabeth Bell, 72, of Dyer died Thursday, Dec. 17, 2009, in a local nursing home. She was born Aug. 16, 1937, in Zavalla, Texas.

She was a member of Dyer Baptist Church, a homemaker and the widow of Johnny Bell.

Funeral was at Ocker Chapel of Alma with burial at Dyer Cemetery in Dyer.

She is survived by two daughters, Sherie Lake and Brenda Bradley, both of Dyer; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
