HAMMOCK, Martha Jane WILLIAMS Vandergriff - Martha Jane Williams was born September 27, 1857 and was converted and joined the Baptist church at Twelve Corners in 1872 of which she is still a member. She was married to Thomas Vandergriff in 1879. To this union two children were born - Charlie and Lee Vandergriff, now of Picher, Okla. Mr. Vandergriff died in 1882. Five years later, in 1887, she was married to W.M. Hammock. To this union five children were born, three boys and two girls, one girl dying in infancy, and Docia dying in 1915 and Dock dying in 1923, Mack and Bryan, who reside in Rogers. She also leaves a husband, a mother 87 years old, one brother, seven step-children, 13 grandchildren and a host of other relatives and her friends were numbered with her acquaintances. Mrs. Hammock passed to the Great Beyond May 20, 1924 at the age of 66 years, seven months and 23 days. Mrs. Hammock, with her family, lived in Rogers 15 years and with the exception of a short while at Southwest City, her whole life has been spent in or near Rogers. All the children were present at the funeral except Lee Vandergriff of Picher, Roy Hammock of Joplin and Gene Hammock of Southwest City. Funeral services were conducted at the home on Spring street Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock by Reverend Jack Deason, pastor at Twelve Corners. Interment in Rogers cemetery.
