HAMMACK, Docia - Miss Docia Hammack died Thursday evening, April 8th at four o'clock at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.M. Hammack on East Walnut street. Death was the result of a relapse of typhoid fever, after she was thought to be quite out of danger, and after an illness of some eight weeks. Funeral services were held at the Baptist church Friday afternoon at three o'clock and were conducted by the pastor, Rev. U.S. Thomas. Despite the heavy rain that fell all afternoon there was a large attendance at the funeral and many friends were present from the country. Deceased was born on Pea Ridge June 19, 1891 and most of her life was spent in that part of the county. She is survived by twelve brothers and sisters. Those who were able to be here for the funeral Friday were: Mrs. Lee Vandergriff, Webb City, Mo.; Mrs. A.W. Martin and H.C. Hammack of Southwest City, Mo.; E.H. Hammack of Grove, Okla.; Roy L. Hammack of Joplin, Mo. and Mrs. J.H. Morgan of Garfield. Mrs. Fred Gary of Webb City was also here. The deceased was a member of the Baptist church and had lived a devoted and faithful Christian life. She was a most estimable young woman and her sad death is a great blow to the relatives and friends.
