Ruby Louise Davis, age 68, of Rose Bud, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, April 17, 2011, at 6:00 p.m. at the White County Medical Center in Searcy, Arkansas, with her family at her side. Born in Little Rock on June 3, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Jack Taylor Gilbert and Charles Electra (Dotson) Gilbert. She grew up in a loving family of four girls and one boy.

Ruby was married at age 15 to Wayne Davis, her husband for the next 50 years at the time he died from Lou Gehrig’s Disease in April of 2008.

In 1978 she became a nurse with her LPN license at St. Vincent Hospital. Ruby worked for ten years in the intensive care nursery and loved it. She had the kind of heart that every patient needs. She truly had the gift for nursing. After a heart attack in 1990, Ruby had to give up her career as a nurse. She suffered from problems with her heart until her death, and although her last 6 months were hard, she had a spirit that wouldn’t stop. Ruby was a member of the Rose Bud Church of Christ, and she enjoyed life and every day that the Lord gave her. She especially loved her family and her Lord. Ruby was a quilter, enjoyed scrapbooking, loved taking trips with her sisters on every Memorial Day, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also loved working in her flower garden, and canning produce from her vegetable garden. She had a gentle, loving heart and soul and will be remembered well.

Ruby is survived by one son, Wayne Eugene Davis, Jr. and his wife, Ellen, of Little Rock; one daughter, Wanda Kay Jensen and her husband, Andy, of Rose Bud; one brother, Kenny Gilbert and his wife, Sherry, of Benton; three sisters, Joyce Brown of Little Rock, Charlene Faulkner of Romance, and Jackie Strober and her husband, Don, of Texas; two grandchildren, Crystal Yvonne Whittington and her husband, Dan, and Lisa Ann Stevenson and her husband, Wesley; four great grandchildren, Mia Whittington, Aidan Whittington, Hudson Whittington, and Daphne Stevenson; and her nieces and nephews. Ruby is also survived by other relatives and her many friends.

Visitation will be held Thursday, April 21, at 9:30 a.m. at the Olmstead Chapel with funeral services beginning at 10:30 a.m., officiated by Mark Adams. Interment will follow in the Romance Cemetery.
