Mr. Gerald Dean White, 80, of Hamburg, died Tuesday, March 21, 2006, at the Ashley County Medical Center in Crossett. A native and lifelong resident of Ashley County and Hamburg, he was an U. S. Army veteran of World War II. He retired from the Arkansas State Highway Department and was a member of the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church where he was a Sunday School teacher for many years.
He is survived by a daughter, Gail Angiln and husband, Tommy, of Haynesville, LA; two stepsons, Paul Wilkerson of Hamburg and James Harrison of Crossett; two step-daughters, Shirley Smith of Hamburg and Barbara Strickland of Greenbrier; a sister, Irene Stell of Hamburg; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wives, Ruby Wilkerson White in 2005 and Flora Mae White in 2000; a son, Danny Dean White; his parents, Henry & Bessie Higginbotham White; three brothers, Garvin, Leo & Charles H. White and two sisters, Hazel Christmas and Willie West.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m., Thursday, March 23, in the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Joey Meredith officiating. Burial followed services at the Hamburg Cemetery. Pallbearers were Freddie Martin, Leon Crouch, Kenneth Leigh, Lynn Croswell, Teddy Hickman and Ronnie Nelms. Honorary pallbearers were the Men's Sunday School Class of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church.
