Ervie L. Barnett

SILOAM SPRINGS — Ervie Barnett, 87, of Siloam Springs died April 7, 2000, at his home.

He was born Oct. 6, 1912, in Stone County to George J. and Ida Jane Lowrance Barnett.

He was a World War II veteran, serving in the European Theater with the 188th Field Artillery Unit. He moved to Siloam Springs in 1947 and joined the First Baptist Church in 1947, where he has been a member since that time. He operated the Dairy Queen in Siloam Springs in 1950, and in 1957, he built and established Barnett's Dairyette, one of the oldest existing businesses in Siloam Springs. He and his wife operated the business until his retirement in 1978.

Survivors include his wife, Eva Taylor Barnett of the home, to whom he was married 65 years; one daughter and son-in-law, Janice Low and Steve of Siloam Springs; three grandsons; two brothers, Ray Barnett of Siloam Springs and Doyle Barnett of Walla Walla, Wash.; three sisters, Dora Stevenson of Vancouver, Wash., Geneva Taylor of Citrus Heights, Calif., and Jeannette Pettey of Siloam Springs.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church in Siloam Springs with the Rev. Gerald Ware, the Rev. Darrel Ware and the Rev. Harold Ware officiating.

Burial will be in Gentry Cemetery under the direction of Wasson Funeral Home in Siloam Springs.
