Lucy Wilkins "Wickie" Word Morgan, age 81, of Warren, AR., died Wednesday December 2, at her home. Born October 5, 1928 in Marianna, AR. a daughter of the late George Sanders Word and Lucille Thompson Word. She was a housewife, substitute librarian for Bradley County Library, life member Warren Jr. Auxiliary, a former home room mother and active P.T.A. member. As a member of First Presbyterian Church, she served as historian, vacation bible school leader, youth fellowship sponsor and served in the Women of The Church in many leadership roles. A dedicated mother, while her 3 sons were in school, she attended many football, basketball and little league games; Swim meets, cub scout meetings, and piano recitals. She baked many cakes for the Halloween carnival and provided food for the Junior and Senior proms. As an avid lover of Boston terrier's for many years, she named each one Tiny.
She was preceded in death by her husband George Clifton "Sonny" Morgan Jr. who she met at Hendrix College and married in August 1948. He died February 17, 2003. Also, preceding her in death were brothers George S. Word, Jr. and Charles Word and a granddaughter Kimberly Word Morgan.
Survivors are 3 sons Cliff Morgan, Warren, AR, Mike Morgan and spouse Erin, Blue Springs, MO., Charles Morgan and spouse Stephanie, Belton, MO., 4 grandchildren Samuel Morgan, Spenser Morgan, Rosanne Morgan, Stephen Morgan; a dear friend Evelyn Wooldridge; a faithful "Pound" dog, Miss Pink Tomato, "Missy" for short.
Memorial service was 1:30 p.m. Friday December 4, First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dari Victoria Rowen officiating. Janice McAllister was organist. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery by Frazer's Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers were Thomas Frazer, Dr. Kerry Pennington, Jerry Davis, Jim Massey, Chuck Cannon, Bob Milton, Blake Marsh and Samuel Morgan. Honorary pallbearers were Clinton Jayne, Earnest Sangster, Conrad Deal, Charles O'Neal, R.V. Warner, Larry Derby and Mike McGibbony.
