*Obituary
Mamie Ruth Cook Morgan, age 94, of Pine Bluff, passed away Friday, February 10, 2017, at Arkansas Hospice Care Facility in Little Rock.

Mrs. Morgan was born August 6, 1922, in Fordyce, Arkansas to the late Ed and Lena Matkin Cook.

She was reared and received her education in Warren, where she graduated from Warren High School in 1941.

She moved to Pine Bluff in 1942 to be a “Ruthie Riveter” at the Pine Bluff Arsenal during World War II.

A shy young girl, she talked herself out of it by never meeting a stranger. The older she got, the more stories she had to tell.

Mrs. Morgan worked at S.H. Kress, and for many other family businesses in Pine Bluff. After retirement, she filled her time with doll collecting, quilting, crocheting, camping, and teaching herself the art of paper quilling.

Her husband had a large family, and they became her very own family and loved them as such.

After moving to Little Rock to be near Dorothy, she moved to The Manor (an assisted living facility) for the past 3 ½ years, making a new family member of each new arrival and making a “nest” for herself.

She married Joe Neal Morgan on January 5, 1944, in Pine Bluff. Mr. Morgan passed away November 5, 1995. She was also predeceased by two sisters.

Mrs. Morgan had been a member of First Immanuel Baptist Church since 1948.

She is survived by her daughter, Dorothy Lynn Morgan Fratesi (Larry) of Little Rock; her son, Gene Edward Morgan of Pine Bluff; grandson, Jeffrey Fratesi (Shannon) of Little Rock; and a great-granddaughter, Olivia Morgan Fratesi.

A graveside service will be Monday, February 13, 2017, 11:00 a.m., at McFarland Cemetery in Banks, Arkansas with Reverend Robert Cossey officiating.
