RICE, Mary E. PUCKETT Carroll - Mrs. Mary E. Rice died Tuesday night at 8:30 o'clock at her home on Prairie Creek at the age of 53 years after a long illness, the result of a cancer. Funeral services were held at the residence yesterday afternoon and were conducted by Rev. U.S. Thomas of the Baptist church. Interment was in the Rogers cemetery. She was born on Prairie Creek and was a daughter of Squire A.A. Puckett and a sister of Joe, John and Hugh Puckett, Mrs. Ed Sager, Mrs. R.M. Rice and Miss Sallie Puckett of Pryor, Okla. She was twice married, first in 1881 to F.D. Carroll, who died in 1903. To them were born four children, Lewis and Guy Carroll, Bessie Carroll and Mrs. Maud Mosley. A few years ago she was married to J.H. Rice who died two years ago. Mrs. Rice was one of the best known women on Prairie Creek and her long painful illness has been a source of much distress and sorrow to the many loving friends and relatives.
