Bonnie "Blankenship" Bell May

Bonnie Bell Blankenship May, daughter of the late Hugo Howard Blankenship and Bessie Lee Couch Blankenship, was born July 21, 1928, in Bandmill, Arkansas. She departed this life on January 31, 2007, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of 78 years, six months and 10 days. Bonnie was united in marriage to Clemon May on March 5, 1948, and to this union two sons were born.

During her working years, Bonnie owned and operated several restaurants in the Independence and Springfield, Missouri, areas. She was a loving and caring wife and mother and a very proud grandmother. She was of the Baptist faith.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Clemon May, of Springfield, Missouri; two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Candi May and Tim and Wilma May, all of Rogersville, Missouri; two brothers, Billy Blankenship, of Oxford, Ark., and Howard Blankenship, of Bandmill, Ark.; two sisters, Rachael Dillard and Bernice Sherrell, both of Oxford, Ark.; two grandchildren, Timberly Sozio and her husband, Ernie, of Springfield, Missouri, and Nathaniel May, of Rogersville, Missouri; three great-grandchildren, Dawson, Daeton and Emmy Sozio, of Springfield, Missouri; and a host of other relatives and many good friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Burlin Blankenship and Roby Roy Blankenship; and two sisters, Wilma Gay Blankenship and Alene Sherrell.

A funeral service was held Saturday, February 3, 2007, at 2 p.m. at the Roman & Billy Howard Memorial Chapel in Melbourne with Steven Stevenson and David Jennings officiating. Burial was in Oxford Cemetery under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne, Ark.
