JOYCE SYLVIA DROWN MAY, of Little Rock, passed away Dec. 14, 2017. She lived a full life of 94 years, born Jan. 27, 1923, to parents Tom and Ethyl Drown at Cross Roads in Izard County. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Victor May of 52 years, and two sisters Jessie Brown and Gloria Phillips, both of Russellville. She is survived by a son, Jim May of Little Rock, a daughter Beth May of North Little Rock; grandchildren Kristi May Gunster (Gerry) of Bethesda, Md., Katelyn Johnston (Jeff) of Little Rock, and Malcolm Cartwright (Kathleen) of Longmont, Colo.; and great-grandchildren Will and Anna Gunster, Jasmine and J.J. Johnston, and Kellan and Everly Cartwright.

As a young women, she taught school in a one room school house for several years, but then was content to be a full time wife and mother. She was a member of Highland Valley Unity Methodist Church and later St. Luke's United Methodist Church. Burial will be beside her husband at the Trimble Campground Church in Dolph, Ark., at a later date.
