HENDRIX, Nancy E. MOORE – Mrs. Nancy E. Hendrix (nee Moore) was born July 11, 1842 in Missouri and was brought by her parents to Benton County in early life. She was converted and joined the M.E. Church, South in her twelfth year. She was an acceptable member of her church until her death which occurred at her home near Avoca October 7, 1912. She was married to Mr. James L. Hendrix in 1866. To this union were born four children, two of whom died in infancy, one son and one daughter. The surviving ones, J.T. Hendrix of Avoca and Mrs. Amanda A. Halsey of Springdale, were the bedside of their mother when she took her departure from her home below to her home in heaven. She was 70 years, 2 months and 26 days old and 58 years of this life was given to the service of her Lord. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Y.A. Gilmore, assisted by the writer, at Pace’s Chapel near White River in the presence of a large attendance of relatives and friends. The community desired to show its sympathy with the bereaved as well as its respect for the deceased. After the service the body was laid to rest in the Pace’s Chapel Cemetery to await the resurrection morn. May the Lord bless her children and may they be faithful unto Him, is the prayer of their friend and brother. Isaac T. Rice
