November 23, 1900
"Again has the invisible death angel visited our community and claimed for its own a 'gem of purest ray serene'. Again have parental heart strings been severed and the music of a happy home been hushed by the snatching away of a jewel divinely fair. On Monday evening, Nov. 12, Little Roxie, the infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Wasson, being in the unrelenting grasp of membranous croup, closed her baby eyes against the approaching cares and sighs and worries of maturer years and opened them on the unfading beauties of God's eternal spring. On Tuesday afternoon, after a short, touching service conducted by Rev. Head, the little casket containing the precious remains, was deposited in the tomb."
Roxie was survived by two elder brothers, Grattan and Homer Wasson.
