Jul. 13, 1847 Carroll Co AR - Jul. 26, 1905 Westville Adair Co OK
A veteran of the Civil War, "Mr. J. H. Wasson died last evening at Westville, I.T. Mr. Wasson was a former citizen of Washingotn County and resided for many years at Elm Springs, where he conducted a successful business. He had been in business at Westville for about two years. Mr. Wasson was a model citizen, a good neighbor, a steadfast friend and sincere Christian gentleman. Among the pople of his community he was a leading spirit and his counsel and advice was sought in all matters of importance to the neighborhood. He was a son of Abner W. Wasson who settled in this county in 1842. Mr. Wasson was amember of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South. The remains will be brought to Elm Springs for interment." (The Fayetteville Daily, Thursday, July 25, 1905, page 2) The Abner W Wasson family first appear in (1850 US Fed. Census)the Crooked Creek Twns of Carroll County, Ark. In 1860, they had moved into the Elm Springs Twns of Washington Co.
