His father, Abner did not purchase property in Washington Co until 1854-56. It is likely that Alfred was born in Carroll Co which was the family residence in 1850. Alfred married Dora Greathouse on 08 June 1879, in Washington Co, solemnized by James A. Walden, M.G. (Wash. Co Marriage Book F, pg 76). To this union a son, Alfred, was born on 07 May 1880.
