Clarence F. Gifford, son of the late William and Elizabeth Horner Gifford, was born in Izard County July 19, 1920. He died November 16, 1997 at Parkside Nursing Care in Union Gap, Washington. He was 77.

Mr Gifford was united in marriage to Willa Richardson November 4, 1972 in Melbourne, where they made their first home. In May 1984 they moved to the Wenatchee Valley in Washington state until recently, when they moved to the Yakima Valley.

Mr Gifford entered the U. S. Army October 27, 1942 and served over seas. Following his honorable discharge December 28, 1945 he returned to Izard County and worked at various jobs in Arkansas. He was a member of the Wenatchee Valley Baptist Church and a member of the V.F.W. Post No. 3617, East Wenatchee.

Survivors include his wife of the home; three sons from a previous marriage, Gaylor Gifford of Fayetteville; Jerry Gifford of Mountain Home; and Reggie Gifford of Cabot; one step-son, Kenneth Jones of Derby, Kansas; one step-daughter, Tammy Kline of Yakima, Washington; one sister, Dovie Gifford of Mountain Home; 11 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and one step-daughter.

Graveside services were held at Pleasant Grove Cemetery November 22, 1997 with Leonard Williams officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Eddie Howard Funeral Home in Melbourne.
