William Meredith Gifford was born at Band Mill, Ark., August 5, 1886 and departed this life September 8, 1955 at the age of 75 years, 1 month and 3 days.
He was united in marriage with Lizzie Horner on December 3, 1905. To this union were born six children, Ollie Watson, Onah Smart and Nora Smart of Wenatchee, Wash., Dovie and Clarence of the home. One daughter, Clara Floyd preceded him in death.
Besides the children he is survived by four brothers, four sisters, fourteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He united with the Pleasant Grove Methodist Church about 50 years ago and had lived a faithful Christian life.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, September 10 at Pleasant Grove Church with Miss Mary Chaffin officiating. Burial was in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery under the direction of the Hall Funeral Home of Melbourne.
