Mrs. J. E. Perryman Dies Unexpectedly Thursday Morning
Mrs. Ovella Smith Perryman, wife of J. E. Perryman, died unexpectedly at the family home here, about 2:30 a.m. Thursday, September 8. Mrs Perryman was ill for only a brief time preceding her death and the news of her demise came as a distinct shock to her many relatives and friends. She was 60 years of age.
Mrs. Perryman was born at Wild Cherry, where she spent the early part of her life. In 1908 she was married to J. Elbert Perryman of Wild Cherry. Mr. and Mrs. Perryman moved to Quinton, Okla. in 1908 where they were residents for 31 years, moving from Oklahoma to Calico Rock in 1939. She united with the Cumberland Presbyterian church early in life and lived a devout Christian life until she was called away. She was loved and respected by a large circle of friends.
Surviving, are her husband, J. Elbert Perryman; two sons, Kenneth and Reed Perryman, of Calico Rock; one sister Mrs. J. H. Sanders of Fresno, Calif., and two brothers, Gratz Smith of Sacramento, Calif., and Alonzo Smith of Fresno, California.
Funeral services, conducted by Hubert Morrow of Memphis were held at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Friday at 2 o’clock p.m. Burial was in Roselawn cemetery here, with the Roller Funeral Service in charge.
Pall bearers were: Steven Drown, H. L. Talburt, U. E. Hudson, T. M. Knowles, Richard Armstrong and Kay Matthews.
