STOUT, William Cumming - Died on the 20th of April, 1872 at the residence of his mother in Washington county, William Cumming Stout, after having been prostrated with consumption for eight months. Though his illness was protracted and his sufferings great yet he bore them with that patience and humble submission that characterizes only the Christian. Not a single murmur or word of complaint was heard to fall from his lips. Though he knew his sickness was unto death he was not afraid to meet the grim monster and grapple with him but calmly awaited his coming as one awaiteth for the voice of the boatman from "the other shore;" and while we mourn our loss and drop the tear of pity upon his immature grave, we weep not as those who have no hope for we steadfastly believe that our loss is his eternal gain.
