*Obituary
Benton County Democrat
Thursday, June 28, 1906
Selina J. Bowles was born in Barren county, Ky. December 6th, 1831 and died at her home in this city June 24th, 1906. November 9th, 1854 she was united in marriage to Josephus Huffman, which union was blessed with one son, C.C. Huffman, who is a respected citizen in this community. In 1858 they moved to Texas and thence, in 1867, to Sebastian county, Ark. and in 1873 they came to Bentonville where they have since resided. In childhood she professed faith in Christ and united with the C.P. church in which she lived until about 1868 when with her husband she joined the Primitive Baptist church in which she lived until God called her to her reward. She was a devoted companion, a patient, loving mother and a devout Christian. Her life was quiet and beautiful, showing that she had implicit confidence in God and during her last sickness she often expressed a desire to depart and be with Him. She will be greatly missed in the community and in the home. The large crowd which assembled at the C.P. church, where the funeral was conducted, shows the esteem in which she was held by the community. Besides the aged husband and son there are several grandchildren and many friends left to mourn their loss. Her body was laid to rest in the quiet family cemetery to await the summons which will arouse it from slumber.
