James Robert Perry, 24, and Rickie Lane Elumbaugh, 22, both of Mt. Home, were killed Wednesday of last week in eastern Kansas in a collision between their motorcycle and a pickup truck, according to Kansas law officers. The accident occurred about 8PM on US Highwasy 56, about two miles north of Osage City, KS, officers said.
Investigators said the motorcycle apparently drifted over the center line and collided head-on with the truck.
Mr. Elumbaugh was born April 26, 1957 at Monette, the son of Mary Sigo Cinningham Elumbaugh and Jimmy Elumbaugh. A former resident of Monette, he had lived here since 1960. On June 7, 1975, at Norfork, he was married to Janice Parnell, who resides at Jordan. He was a farm laborer.
Survivors include his mother, of Valparalso, IN and his father of Mt. Home; one son, Timothy Joe Elumbaugh, at home; one sister Debbie Foster of Mt. Home; his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Elumburgh of Batesville; and his maternal grandmohter, Mrs. Bertha Elledge of Salesville.
Funeral services were held Saturday at the Kirby-Blevins-LaFevers Chapel on Hospital Drive, with Rev. Harold Barnett offiicating. Interment was in the Galatia Cemetery at Norfork, under the direction of Kirby-Blevins-LaFevers.
Pallbearers were Danny Williams, Billy Beard, Tommy Beard, Gary Lynn, Richie Olson and L.D. Perry.
Mr. Perry, who was also a farm laborer was born Oct 18, 1954 at Calico Rock, the son of Goldie Zeda Woods Perry and L.D. Perry. he was a lifetime resident of this area.
Survivors include his father of Arkana Road; one brother, Dale Perry of Osage City; two sisters Kathryn Sue Mustain of Ottawa, KS and Hazel Perry of Mt. Home; his paternal grandmother, Tabitha Jane Perry of Mt. Home; and one nephew and three nieces. He was preceded in death by his mother, his maternal grandparents and his paternal grandfather.
Funeral services were held Sunday at the Arkana Baptist Church, with Rev. Manuel Macks officiating. Interment was in the Arkana Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Kirby-Blevins-LaFevers Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Danny Baird, Jim Elumbaugh, Tommy Beard, Billy Joe Beard, Ronnie Parnell and Henry Hodges.
