GHOLSON, Noah Burton - Noah Burton Gholson, a former resident of Benton County, died at the home of his mother, Mrs. Sarah Heaslet Gholson, in Highfill at two o'clock in the morning, May 13th, 1932 from heart trouble and complications. He was forty-nine years of age, having passed his birthday anniversary May 8th. Mr. Gholson, who had been in ill health for some time with heart trouble, returned from California April 26th. He has since been confined to his mother's home in Highfill where the end came quietly and peacefully, with his wife, mother and brothers at his bedside. Funeral services were held at the Baptist church in Decatur Sunday afternoon, the Rev. Joe English of Gentry conducting the services in the presence of a large number of relatives and friends. Rev. John Scoggin of Decatur, life-long friend of the family, assisted. Burial was made in the Decatur cemetery Mr. Gholson was born on the old Gholson homestead in Mason Valley May 8, 1883 where he grew to manhood. On April 14, 1909 he was married to Miss Elizabeth Burckle of Kansas City, daughter of Mrs. Mary Burckle and the late L.P. Burckle of Decatur. For several years he was a photographer living west of Decatur and later had a studio in Gravette and Joplin. Later they went to Kansas City. In 1914 Mr. and Mrs. Gholson moved to California where he was engaged in business in Corona and Riverside until his health failed. Besides his widow, Mrs. Elizabeth Burckle Gholson, he is survived by two sons, George Burton Gholson, 21, and Richard Donald Gholson, 8; his aged mother, Mrs. Sarah H. Gholson; two brothers, J.L. Gholson and Will Gholson of Highfill community; and five sisters, Mrs. George Gearhart of Mason Valley; Mrs. James Cain, Rogers; Mrs. Joe Sprinkle of Miami, Oklahoma; Mrs. Charles Ketchum of Elkhardt, Kansas and Mrs. John Givens of Amarillo, Texas, besides a large number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
