BISHOP, E.J. - E.J. Bishop was born March 3, 1840 and died July 31st, 1918 at the age of 74 years, 4 months, 28 days. He was married to Miss Margaret Ward April 30th, 1871 and to this union were born eleven children, nine of whom are living. They are as follows: J.H. Bishop, Mrs. Lottie Glover and Mrs. Martie Matingly, Condon, Ore.; Mrs. Mattie Graham, Mrs. Birdie Moore, Eliston, Mon.; Mrs. Nanie Reed, residence unknown; B.N. Bishop, James Bishop and Mrs. H.B. McClure, Lowell, Ark. The funeral services were held at the Baptist church at Lowell and were conducted by Rev. E.J. Adams. He was laid to rest in the Barnes cemetery by the side of his wife, Margaret Bishop, who preceded him by several years. Mr. Bishop was in the Federal army in the civil war and was postmaster at Lowell for a number of years. He was a member of the Baptist church and a noble Christian man. He had suffered a great deal for several years but bore it all with patience. His personal work is finished, he has gone to rest from his labors, but his influence will be felt for several generations.
