Jewell the son of John Wesley Godwin and Nancy Catherine (Raney) Godwin. Nancy the daughter of Christopher Columbus (Kip) Hardin and Amanda Jane (Campbell) Hardin.

SAFFELL -- Jewell T. Godwin, 91, of Saffell died Tuesday, Nov. 12, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Walnut Ridge.
Born in Saffell, he was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a farmer and a member of Mount Harmony Free Will Baptist Church in Saffell.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy (Hardin) Godwin of the home; a son, J.T. Godwin of Batesville; a daughter, Jan Reynolds of Jasper; three stepsons, Maurice Dean Lance, Tom Godwin of Idaho and Ted Godwin of Alaska; a brother, Claude Godwin of Louisiana; a sister, Nona Eagan of Black Rock; five grandchildren; several stepgrandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Merkley Melton Godwin; his parents, John Wesley and Catherine Rainey Godwin; a stepdaughter, Devon Norton; a brother; and three sisters.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Mount Harmony Free Will Baptist Church, with Stanley Vandergrift and Loy Counts officiating. Burial will follow in Godwin Cemetery at Saffell under the direction of Qualls Batesville Funeral Service.
Active pallbearers will be Jerry Gilliam, Billy Saffell, Dustin Carlton, Hershel Gilliam, Dexter Hardin and Jereb Mounce.
Honorary pallbearers will include D.J. Mounce, Dutch Whitmire, Fred Lewis, Glenda Lewis, Buster Melton and Chris Carlton.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Nancy E. Godwin, 87, of Saffell, died May 8, 2003, at Lawrence Hall Nursing Center at Walnut Ridge.
She was born Feb. 20, 1916, at Sidney, Ark., to Christopher Columbus and Amanda Jane Campbell Hardin.
She was a homemaker, a member of the Cord Senior Citizens Center and also a member of the Mount Harmony Free Will Baptist Church at Saffell.
Survivors include two sons -- Tom Godwin of Idaho, and Ted Godwin of Anchorage, Alaska; a stepson, J.T. Godwin Jr. of Batesville; a stepdaughter, Janice Reynolds of Jasper, Ark.; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Clede Godwin; her second husband, Jewell T. Godwin; a daughter, Devon Norton; three brothers -- Jack L. Hardin, Liegh Hardin and Glen Hardin; and four sisters -- Elizabeth Milligan, May Milligan, Opal Newberry and Lena Massey.
The funeral service was May 12 at the Mount Harmony Free Will Baptist Church at Saffell, with Bro. Stanley Vandergrift and Bro. Loy Counts officiating. Interment followed in Godwin Cemetery, located at Saffell.
Arrangements were under the direction of Qualls Batesville Funeral Service at Batesville.
