Mrs. Verda Jacks Morris, 55, of Magnolia, Route 4, died Thursday at her home after a short illness. She was born April 6, 1913, near Village in Columbia County and was well known to residents of the Columbia-Union County area. Survivors include her husband, Elvie Morris of Magnolia; a son, Bobby C. Morris of Magnolia; two brothers, Parker Jacks and Glen Jacks, both of Magnolia; and five sisters, Mrs. Maggie McFarland and Mrs. Mary Murphy, both of El Dorado, Mrs. Sally Staford of Indianapolis, Ind., and Mrs. Ruby Cheatham and Mrs. Elmer Wilson, both of Magnolia. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Lydesdale Church (Columbia County), with the Rev. Winston Roden officiating. Burial will be in the Lydesdale Cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home of Magnolia. (El Dorado Times - December 7, 1968)
