Bonnie Lee Buck Hignight, age 88, of Hot Springs, passed away on Wednesday, September 27, 2023.
She was born to Albert Lee Merriott and Gladys Merriott Lawson on November 14, 1934 in Hot Springs, AR.
She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Jack 0. Buck, second husband, Neland Hignight, son, Jackie Lee Buck, Sisters Delma Freet, Bobbie Lucas, Jerry Trott, and brother James Merriott.
Bonnie retired from the Majestic Hotel after 28 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Royal, with Brother George Lynch as her pastor. Bonnie was always the first to offer a helping hand to those she loved. She never backed down from something she believed in, and she was very head strong. Bonnie's family was always first and foremost in her life. Her love and wit will be missed but never forgotten. She instilled that along with her christianity in all of her children/grandchildren to carry on for years to come. Bonnie was such a bright light to any darkness. She always had a smile on her face that was so infectious to anyone around her. Bonnie loved sitting down with one of her favorite books, being outside and tending to her flowers, playing with her grandchildren and most importantly, making sure the grass never reached her ankles. She will surely be missed but her spirit lives on inside of each and every one of her children/grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, Becky Jo Slater (Charles), Brother, Kenneth Lawson, four Granddaughters, Kimberly Johnson (Derek), Amanda Howell (Mike), Crystal Bairett (Shawn), and Tiffany Slater (Ty). Grandson, Charles Slater Jr. (Heather). Eleven great grandchildren, Elizabeth Bairett, Kayla Johnson, Peyton Johnson, Timothy Howell, Trinity Simmons, and Brooklyn Bowen, Gage Snow (Ashley), Brandon Snow, Chandler Slater, Danielle Slater, and Addison Slater. Two great great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Guerra, and Wyatt Hauk. As well as many nieces and nephews and a hoard of wonderful friends.
Visitation will be from 5-7 PM on Sunday, October 1st at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home. A celebration of Bonnie's life will be at 2 PM on October 2nd at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home with burial to follow at Morning Star Cemetery.
