Captain Neland Hignight passed away on July 11, 2010 at the hospital. He fought a long battle with acute Leukemia. He was born October 6, 1930 to Rev. Creed and Lucy Hignight of Hot Springs, Arkansas. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Royal, Arkansas. He was employed at Cooleys Grocery Store for thirteen years, a long time Tri-lake Diver with Harold Nash and Ed Johnson. He was a policeman for twenty years for the Hot Springs Police Department retiring on January 24, 1987 as Captain. He worked at the Hot Springs Rehabilitation Center for eleven years, retired on June 26, 1998. He rode his Honda with his wife, Bonnie for twelve years with the Spa City Riders and the Goldwing Road Riders covering forty-two states and Canada. He is predeceased by his parents, first wife Mildred Loretta Trammell Hignight, daughter Bonnie Dean Hignight Hamilton and special friend Scooter. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Bonnie Hignight; sons Dale Hignight and Shelby Hignight all of Hot Springs, Jackie Buck of Benton, one daughter Becky Slater and husband Charlie; one brother Jason Hignight of Hot Springs; sister Margaret Lange and husband Marvin of Temple, Texas, sister Luvenia Rushing of Napa, California; grandchildren Neil, Heather, Aaron David, Missy, Mandy, Shannon, Kim, Tiffany, Mandy, Crystal; eighteen great-grandchildren and special friend Rambo. Visitation will be from 6:00 8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 15, 2010 at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 16, 2010 at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home Chapel with Brother George Lynch officiating. Burial will follow in Fouche Loupe Cemetery. Pallbearers will include the members of the Hot Springs Police Department. Honorary pallbearers include members of the Goldwing Road Riders; Dr. Neeraj Bharany and Dr. Sunil Patel. The family will be at 146 Bonita Street in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Guests may register at www.caruth-hale.com.
