Charles Herman Smith, 71, of Lake Village died Monday, February 21, 2005. He was a carpenter, a member of the Lake Village Baptist Church and an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was born October 10, 1933, in Hamburg to the late Herman F. Smith and Doris Stell Smith.
Survivors include his wife, Kay Smith of Lake Village; two sons, Kevin Smith and wife Becky of Lake Village and Charles Smith, Jr., and wife Lola of Beaumont, TX; a daughter, Cathy Gray of El Paso, TX; a brother, Larry Smith and wife Toni of Hamburg; a sister, Betty Hagood and husband Sonny of Strong; a cousin, Bobby Riley and wife Evelyn of Hamburg; nine grandchildren, Jacob and Kaitlyn Smith, Kevin, Clay and Kenneth Smith, Brad, Tara, and Chad and Jessica Gray; and a great-granddaughter, Addison Gray.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 23, in the Lake Village Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Bell officiating. Burial followed services at the Promise Land Baptist Church with arrangements by Bishop Funeral Home of Lake Village.
