MUSTANG, Okla. -- Rhad K. Brooks, devoted husband, father, brother, and grandad, passed peacefully away Sunday, April 26, 2015, after a short illness. Rhad was born March 6, 1940, in Rogers, Ark., to Ralph E. Brooks and Juanita (Osborne) Brooks.
He grew up in Rogers and graduated from high school there in 1958. After his graduation, he attended Ouachita Baptist College and then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1962. He was stationed at Yokota Air Base in Fussa, Japan, serving his country until being discharged in 1966.
Rhad married Martha (Stilwell) Brooks on Nov. 30, 1963, at the First Baptist Church in Rogers, Ark. Together, they made a life and a family.
Daughter, Elaine (Brooks) Hibdon, was born while Rhad was serving in Japan. Son, Steve, was born in Tulsa, Okla., where the couple settled after returning from Rhad's service overseas. They lived there for 40 years.
While in Tulsa, Rhad worked computer operations for a number of companies before being employed in that field of work with St. John Medical Center. He retired there in 2005 after 16 years.
Following his retirement, the couple moved to Mustang, Okla., where he became involved as a member of Chisholm Heights Baptist Church. One of Rhad's greatest joys was singing in the church choir.
He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Elaine.
Rhad is survived by his wife of more than 51 years, Martha, of the home; his son, Steve, and his wife Stephanie (Buchanan) Brooks and their children Kaylyn, Kaleb, and Sage; his son-in-law, Vince Hibdon, and Vince's son Scott Hibdon Scoot's son, Anthony, and daughter Jordan (Hibdon) Kevin Carlton. He is also survived by two sisters and their husbands, Nancy and Tommy Hinson and Beth and Rick Wolfe.
Graveside Services with full military honors will be 12:30 p.m. Wednesday; April 29, 2015 at Benton Memorial Park Cemetery Rogers, Ark. Memorials can be given in Rhad's memory to the HIS Increase fund of Chisholm Heights Baptist Church, 2243 W. State Highway 153, Mustang, Okla. 73064.
