Mr. William A. "Al" Smith of Clark's Chapel Community, Arkansas died Saturday, August 4, 2012, in a Fort Smith hospital. Mr. Smith was 4 days shy of his 93rd birthday. He was a retired government contractor, a farmer, and was a U. S. Army veteran of WW II. He was a member of the American Legion, the Disable American Veterans, and a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Witcherville, Arkansas.

Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents; his belvoed wife: Dorothy Wanda Taylor Smith, 1 son: Alvin Ray Smith, 2 sisters: Dorothy Nichols Phillips and Inis Taylor, and 3 brothers: Elmer Lee Smith, Therman "Dutch" Smith, and Alfred Smith.
He is survived by 1 son: Owen Smith and his wife, Delena, of Witcherville, Arkansas; two daughters: Patt Conaway and her husband, Jim, of Greenwood, Arkansas, and Lois Witt and her husband, Isaac, of Fort Smith, Arkansas; two sisters: Margaret Cook and Myrle Dean Kerr, both of Fort Smith, Arkansas; two brothers: Jim Smith of Mansfield, Arkansas, and Marion Smith of Fayetteville, Arkansas; six grandchildren: Ryan Smith, Andrea Jansen, Jeff Conaway, Allison McBride, Lora Lea Witt and Jeanne Witt; five great grandchildren: Cole Marie Smith, Abby Lynne Smith, Carson McBride, Carter McBride and Heather Haley; other relatives; and many dear friends.

Funeral services were held Tuesday morning, August 7, 2012. at Fellowship Baptist Church in Witcherville, Arkansas. He was laid to rest alongside his beloved wife: Dorothy at Union Ridge Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: his nephews.

Dorothy Smith, 81, of Witcherville died Saturday, Oct. 25, 2003, in a Fort Smith hospital. She was a homemaker and a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Witcherville.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Fellowship Baptist Church in Witcherville with burial at Union Ridge Cemetery in Dayton under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.

She is survived by her husband, William A. "Al" Smith; two daughters, Patricia Conaway and Lois Witt, both of Fort Smith; a son, Owen Smith of Witcherville; a half sister, Shellie Mitchell of Edmond, Okla.; a brother, George Taylor of Jenny Lind; a half brother, Jerry Mitchell of Huntington; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
