Diana Ruth Hawkins, 67, of Rogers died April 10, 2007, at her home.

She was born Feb. 15, 1940, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, to Roland and Pat Rochette. She attended an all-girl English School in Argentina, and was an avid field hockey player. Later she founded her own school, the Don Torcuato English School for Spanish speaking students to learn English.

She moved to the United States and married Edward C. Brackney of Kansas City, where she became a very successful numismatist specializing in foreign coins working for several dealers. She held many offices of the numerous coin clubs in the KC area.

She moved to Rogers in 1973 and opened Brackney Coin Shop in 1974. After the passing of Edward Brackney in 1982, she married John F. Hawkins in 1983 and started Hawkins Silks in 1989. She was considered a pioneer in the artificial floral industry, both as a designer and decor consultant. She entered her first national floral competition at age 15, and later studied under some of Europe's best floral designers. She lived life with a passion.

Being voted an "honorary classmate" by John's RCS Class of 1951 meant a great deal to Diana. Even though Diana was born in Buenos Aires, (because her father was a U.S. diplomat) she often said she would have preferred to be born and raised in Rogers.

Survivors include her husband, John Hawkins; two daughters, Wendy Brackney of Bentonville, Dorothy Detter of Eureka Springs; two sisters, Denise Rochette and Gloria Carrington of Bella Vista; two grandsons, Charles "Chuck" and Phillip Morter; four granddaughters, Alisha Williams, Jenifer, Elizabeth and Katherine Detter; and two nephews.

Diana was loved by so many. If love could have saved her, she would have lived forever.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 13 at Rollins Funeral Home in Rogers, online at www.rollinsfuneral.com.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 14 at Rollins with the Rev. Richard Lindman officiating. Interment will follow in Rogers Cemetery.
