Kenneth Douglas "Doug" Brackney, 65, of Sulphur Springs, Ark., departed this life on Sunday, April 30, 2017, in the comfort of his home after a long illness. He born on Feb. 10, 1952, in Noel, Mo, to the union of the late Kenneth and Velma Grace (Traxel) Brackney.
He was raised in Sulphur Springs and was a graduate of Gravette High School. On Aug. 6, 1971, he was united in marriage to Patricia Faye Wishon and together they shard 44 years before her passing on May 15, 2016. He was a truck driver and mechanic throughout his life. Later he and Patty also operated chicken houses. He enjoyed fishing, being outdoors and spending time with his family, especially his grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Patty; and a son, Bryan Brackney.
He is survived by one son, Nelson Roberts Jr. and wife, Lynda, of Sulphur Springs; three grandsons, Blake Rutherford and wife, Brittany, Levi Roberts and wife, Kelli and Kilby Roberts; two great-granddaughters, Lylah Roberts and Trista Andrews; a brother, Donald Brackney Sr. of Sulphur Springs; a sister, June Murray of Sulphur Springs; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 5, 2017, at the Butler Creek Cemetery in Sulphur Springs with Pastor Jheri Roberts officiating. Those honoring his life by serving as pallbearers are Blake Rutherford, Levi Roberts and Kilby Roberts, Donald Brackney Jr., Jesse Stowe and Justin Sheppard. Jimmy Lashly and William Murray will be serving as honorary pallbearers.

Mrs. Patricia Faye “Patty” Brackney, 63, of Sulphur Springs, Arkansas, departed this life on Sunday evening, May 15, 2016, at her home after a lengthy illness.
Patty entered this life on August 22, 1952, in Rogers, Arkansas, born to the union of the late Jesse and Ruby (Orndorff) Wishon. She was a lifelong resident of Northwest Arkansas. On August 6, 1971, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Douglas “Doug” Brackney and together they have shared the last forty-four years. For several years she worked as an LPN, a career she dearly loved. Patty later worked at McKee Baking for six years before she and Doug operated chicken houses. She enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren, visiting with her friends and neighbors, crocheting, quilting and fishing. She attended the First Assembly of God Church in Gravette, Arkansas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Bryan Brackney; and a sister, Sharon Stowe.
Patty is survived by her husband, Doug Brackney of the home; a son, Nelson Roberts, Jr. and wife, Lynda, of Sulphur Springs, Arkansas; three grandsons, Blake Rutherford, Levi Roberts and Kilby Roberts; two great granddaughters, Lylah Roberts and Trista Andrews; four sisters, Susie Mullen and Sandy Rock both of Gravette, Arkansas and Karen Wallace and Brenda Wallace both of Grove, Oklahoma; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.
Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Brackney are 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 20, 2016, at the Butler Creek Cemetery in Sulphur Springs, Arkansas, with Pastor Jack Deaton officiating. Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers are Blake Rutherford, Levi Roberts, Kilby Roberts, Alex Hammontree, Jimmy Lashly and Jesse Stowe. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 5-7:00 p.m. in the Noel Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes.
