Mervin W. Barnes, 83 of Strong, passed away Sunday, August 5, 2012, at this residence. He was born February 9, 1929, to Claude Clarence and Verlee Jones Barnes in Mt. Tabor, AR.
Mervin was a veteran of the Arkansas National Guard and the United States Navy. He was retired from the City of Strong and was a member of Green Grove Chapel.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Ernestine Wooten Barnes; daughter, Patricia Barnes; brother, Milford Barnes; and two grandchildren, Georgia Dimler, and Kensley Pace.
Survivors include his four sons, Buddy Barnes, Frank Barnes, Monty Barnes, Tony Barnes; three daughters, Gloria Chadwick, Debra Dimler, Tammy Smith all of Strong; sister, Janey Lou Barnes; and thirteen grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 7, 2012, at Young's.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 8, 2012, at Green Grove Chapel with Rev. Ricky Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Green Grove Cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors.
