Sister Mary Humbeline Moore, R.S.M., of McAuley Convent and Retirement Residence in Barling died Thursday, May 15, 2003 in McAuley Convent.
Sister was born July 13, 1918 in South Houston and baptized Georgia Belle Moore. Her parents were Joseph Hunter Moore and Georgia Etta Moore.
Sister M. Humbeline entered the Sisters of Mercy Community in February 1943 and made her first vows Aug. 16, 1945. She did her college work in nursing education and nursing administration at Incarnate Word College in San Antonio, graduating in 1951 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Education. In 1964 she did post-graduate study St. Louis University and received her degree in Hospital Administration and Personnel Management.
Sister was supervisor and clinical instructor at St. Joseph's Hospital in Hot Springs starting in 1951. She then became director of the School of Nursing and Nursing Services at St. Joseph's Hospital until 1962. The following year she became instructor of Fundamentals of Nursing at Mercy Junior College in St. Louis (from 1963 to 1970), with two years out to become director of Student Personnel Services in El Dorado. Sister returned to St. Joseph's Hospital in Hot Springs as director of patient Relations from 1970 to 1974. She remained at St. Joseph's until she retired to Barling in 1997.
Sister Mary Humbeline is survived by her brother, Joseph B. Moore of Hobbs, N.M. and her niece, Diane Moore Teltschik of Sugarland, Texas.
The Rosary will be at 9:30 a.m. today at McAuley Convent Chapel.
Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. today at McAuley Convent Chapel, 1300 Strozier Lane in Barling under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Ft. Smith.
Sister will be buried at Calvary Cemetery in Ft. Smith.
