Marcie Carpenter, 87, of Hamburg, died Sunday, March 23, 2014 at her residence. Mrs. Carpenter was a native of Fountain Hill and a resident of Hamburg for most of her life. She was a homemaker and Southern Baptist pastor’s wife for 40 years. She was a faithful member of the Gardner Baptist Church and she loved quilting, playing the piano and cooking for everybody.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Raymond Carpenter; two sons, Rev. Bill Carpenter and Richard Carpenter; a daughter-in-law, Mitzi Carpenter; her parents, Floyd & Odell White Sivils; a brother, Gwain Sivils and a sister, Jayne Hobbs.

She is survived by a son, Glenn Allen Carpenter of Hamburg; a daughter-in-law, Carol Ann Stone Carpenter of Mount Ida; a brother, John Sivils of Kettering, England; four grandchildren, Kenny Ray Carpenter, Candie Stafford, Jeff Carpenter and Anna Lombardi; 11 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and special caregiver, her great-granddaughter-in-law, Kristyn Griffith.

Funeral services are 11 a.m., Tuesday, March 25, 2014 in the Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Eugene Howie and Rev. Keith Martin officiating. Burial will be in the Hamburg Cemetery. Pallbearers are Kenny Carpenter, Jay Griffith, Joe Sivils, Bobby Griffin, Levi Gray and Sam Hobbs. Honorary pallbearers are Charles White, Buddy White, Allen McHenry, Teddy Hickman and Henry Bierbaum. Memorials may be made to the Gardner Baptist Church, PO Box 311, Hamburg, AR 71646.
