Lois Evelyn Marks Hodges, born October 3, 1922, passed away at Hudson Memorial Nursing Home in El Dorado, AR, on Sunday, October 4, 2020. The fourth child of Carl and Naomi Marks, she grew up in Camden, AR and was a graduate of Ouachita Baptist University and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. She married Maurice Hodges in August 1962 and they served the Lord by leading education and mission ministries in several Baptist churches in Louisiana, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, and Arkansas. After retirement they moved to Smackover, AR and were members of Sylvan Hills Baptist Church, Camden, AR, a church where her parents were founding members. In their later years they received a great deal of support from this congregation.
Lois is preceded in death by her husband, Maurice Hodges; a sister, Carline Smith; two brothers, Cyrus and Raymond Marks, and her parents, Carl and Naomi Marks. She is survived by her brother Ivan Marks of Austin, TX, numerous nieces and nephews, along with many friends and their extended families. She was loved by many and was known as a kind, loving soul, with a strong biblical knowledge. After moving to Smackover, Lois established a business and was known as the Avon lady.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00PM Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at Bethesda Cemetery in Camden. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sylvan Hills Baptist Church.
