Essie Lea Jones Gillihan of Calico Rock
Essie Lea Gillihan, daughter of the late Dewey Jones and Harriet Collins Jones, was born January 22, 1932 in Boswell, Arkansas. She departed this life September 15, 2016 in Calico Rock, Arkansas at the age of 84 years, 8 months, and 15 days. She was raised by Vergie and Jessie Vines after the death of her parents.
She was united in marriage to Orvil Gillihan December 24, 1952.
She spent her life as a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, homemaker and friend. During her working years she was employed as a home health CNA.
She is survived by two daugthers: Pamela and Wallace Prater of Sterling, Illinois, and Karen and Kerry Lester of Calico Rock, Arkansas; one step-brother: Verlin Vines; one step-sister: Bonna Rae Vines; four grandchildren: Alexander Burge, Kathryn Chase, Tara Cunningham, Vance Lester; five great grandchildren: Kisten Jackson, Matthew Jackson, Killian Burge, Hailey Cunningham and Alexus Cunningham.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers: Ralph Jones and twin brother; one sister, Gladys Eskes; and one son, Jacob Gillihan.
A memorial service is planned for a later date.
