John Logan (Jack) Davenport, age 93, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Friday, January 22, 2010. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Julietta Marie (Adams) Davenport. He leaves to mourn his three daughters, Frances (Delbert) Hoefar of Pasadena, Texas; Carolyn (Bill) Boyce of Afton, Oklahoma; and Jackie (Don) Henderson of Old Hickory, Tennessee. Mr. Davenport is survived by siblings, Wilbur (Lovis) Davenport of Pryor, Oklahoma; Harold Davenport of McAlester, Oklahoma; Jim Davenport of Kirbyville, Missouri; Sandy (Earlene) Davenport of Saucier, Mississippi; JoAnne (Don) Rogers of Alma, Arkansas; and Dorthy (Ernest) Weimann also of Alma. Mr Davenport was preceded in death by his brother, Lloyd Davenport, one granddaughter, Cassandra Henderson, and his parents Myrtle (Hancock) Davenport and John Davenport. Also surviving are five grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Davenport was a 50 plus year member of Fine Springs Masonic Lodge #439 and a member of Newberry Chapel Methodist Church of Alma. He served in the Navy in World War II. Mr. Davenport was employed for 33 years by Phillips Petroleum Company in Pasadena, Texas, but upon his retirement he returned to his homeplace in Alma. In 2008 due to declining health, Jack and Julietta moved to Fort Smith to reside at Willow Brook, a retirement facility for active seniors. Following Mr. Davenport's burial at the Fort Smith National Cemetery n Monday, January 25, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. . Reverend Bob Jeffery will officiate at a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. at Newberry Chapel in Alma. Friends and Family are invited to celebrate Jack's long and happy life.
