Marie Koch, who resided in Paris, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, May 18, 2014 in Paris. She was born May 17, 1919 in Paris, Arkansas, the 2nd daughter to the late Lonnie Bowles and Mae (Rodgers) Bowles. She was 95 years old. She was also preceded in death by her husband Robert (Bob) Charles Koch; and one sister, Louise Nash.
Marie was a hair dresser for over 60 years. She was a 1938 graduate of Paris High School, a graduate of Stoner Beauty College in Fort Smith, member of Little Creek Country Club in Ratcliff, and was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society for over 40 years. Marie also served on the Coal Miner's Memorial in Paris. She was the winner of the Community Volunteer of the Year for 2011, and was voted Logan County Volunteer of the Year in 2012. She served as secretary of the church board, and member of First Christian Church in Paris.
Memorial service will be 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 21st, at First Christian Church in Paris, with the Rev. H.C. Varnadore officiating. Burial of cremains will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Paris at a later date. Cremation arrangements and services are under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home in Paris.
She is survived by one son, David R. Koch of Paris; two sisters, Ina Martin of Jonesboro and Ruth Matthiessen of Paris; two granddaughters, Tabatha Koch of Paris and Tiffanny(Koch) Enriquez and husband Austin of Paris; one great-grandchild, Ember Enriquez; two nieces, Kaye Bizon and husband John of Marco Island, Florida and Kathy Farris and husband Jerry of Jonesboro; one nephew, Robert C. Tilley and wife Margaret of Buffalo Island, Illinois.
