EDDIE MAE THROWER was born in Ouachita County, Camden, Arkansas on September 22, 1927 to the late Willie and Alberta Thrower. To this union, seven girls were born and no brothers. Eddie Mae was number six. She lived a long, beautiful, successful, and very independent life. At the age of 91, she left this earthly realm and entered the presence of the heavenly father on Sunday April 7, 2019 at Silver Oaks Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility. She was the last of the seven children.
Sister Eddie Mae completed her high school education in Clark County, Arkadelphia, Arkansas and graduated from Peake High School. Even though she was faced with a vision handicap at an early age, she did not let that stand in the way of accomplishing many things, nor did she use it as an excuse not to do what she wanted.
At an early age, she became a lifelong member of St. Mary Baptist Church, now known as New St Mary Baptist Church in the community of Velie. She remained a long time faithful member until her health did not allow her to attend.
Eddie Mae was a walking book of knowledge and factual information. Once she heard it, it was never forgotten. Her excellent sense of memory was beyond amazing. People often used her as a resource person for information they needed answers to, and most of all, she didn’t bite her tongue when it came time to let you know how she felt about you and different situations.
Sister Eddie Mae Thrower was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, and one son, Donald Ray Thrower.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory, Nephews, Russell Horton (Cynthia), Richard Horton (Zephyr), Little Rock, Arkansas, Oscar Horton (Miriam), Tampa Florida, Charles Williams (Lois), Tracy, California, Niece, Mercille Springer (Paul), Little Rock, Arkansas. Grandchildren, Reginald Smith (Tiara) and Donald Smith of Conway, Arkansas, Tamekia Thrower (Corey) of Dallas, TX, Shonica Gentle (Tommy) of North Little Rock, Arkansas, LaTonneo Hughes of Fargo, North Dakota, Candace Highsmith of Camden, AR; and a host of Great Grandchildren, other relatives, and friends.
