John W. (Dub) Wood, 77, of Clarksville, Arkansas, passed away on July 2, 2013 in Russellville Arkansas.
He was born November 12, 1935 in Osceola, Arkansas, to the late Jeff and Elsie (Vinson) Wood.
John was a United States Army veteran, as were both his children. He worked for Arkansas and All State Uniform Services as a service manager for many years. He and his
brother started Wood Tire and Service Center (Wood Brothers Tire) in Clarksville in 1973. He also worked at Singer Company as a technician both in Clarksville and in Anderson, SC. He last worked for Conceptions in Communication in Nashville, TN as a service technician.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Jayme Lea Koch, great granddaughter Zoey Michelle Wood, two sisters, Lorene Criss and Laura Estridge and two brothers, Charles Wood and Billy Wood.
He is survived by his first wife and mother of his two children, Carole Wood of Sherwood, Arkansas, one son, Jerry Wood, of Sherwood, Arkansas, one son-in-law, Darrel Koch of Scranton, Arkansas, four grandchildren, David Wood, James Wood, Sarah Wood, and Zachary Wood, all of Missouri,five great grandchildren, Jordan Wood, Olivia Usher, Jamison Wood, Amelia Wood, and Draylen Wood, all of Missouri, one sister, Linda Brandenburg of Clarksville, one brother, Norman Wood of Clarksville, and many nephews and nieces.
John wished to express a very special thank you to Faye Smith of Clarksville, his second wife and best friend who was always there for him, and to Lena Mayhew of Dover, Arkansas, who in addition to being his dialysis nurse, became like a daughter to him following the death of his daughter Jayme.
To all of his family and friends, John wanted you to know that he loved each and every one, as he knows you all loved him. He asked that each one keep the faith until he meets you again.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Friday, July 5, 2013 at Roller-Cox Funeral Home, in Clarksville. Mr. Wood's funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 6, 2013, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home, in Clarksville, with his nephews Fred Wood, Paul Wood, John Wood, and Kevin Wood officiating.
Burial will follow in Mt Vernon Cemetery with Jeff Wood, John Wood, Kevin Wood, Dale Wood, David Wood, and Don Bean serving as pallbearers and Michael Brandenburg, William Smith, Darrel Koch, Jared Wood, Kevin Arabaugh, and Rick Criss serving as honorary pallbearers.
Arrangements are under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
