When Gertrude Harrell was born on March 16, 1869, in Arkansas, her father, Joseph, was 30, and her mother, Sallie, was 22. She married William Buchanon Kirk on December 30, 1885, in Prairie, Arkansas. They had seven children in 16 years. She died on March 26, 1950, in Hickory, Arkansas, at the age of 81, and was buried in Beebe, Arkansas.
