Wayne W. Johnson was born on May 30, 1927 in Madison County, AR to Orville & Delphia Shrum Johnson. He passed away on April 5 in Ft. Worth, TX at the age of 93.

Wayne graduated from St. Paul High School and moved to Kansas City, MO to work. He was later drafted into the Army and served as a Medical Aidman in Germany for approximately a year in 1952.

When he returned, he married Gussie Martin. They became husband and wife on December 26, 1953. At the time of her death in 2019, they had been married for 65 years! In 1960, Wayne moved the family back to Arkansas to be closer to family. He was primarily employed by Herbt Shoe Company, working in manufacturing facilities in Clarksville and Paris for 25 years. He was a licensed plumber, licensed electrician and could basically build or fix anything! He built two Johnson family homes from the bottom up.

Wayne loved the Lord and always tried to share his quiet faith through steadfast service. For over 55 years, he led God's people in making music. He served churches in Lamar, Ozone, Woodland, Magazine, Delaware, Ratcliff and Paris. He led worship services until he was 90 years old. In addition to regular worship services, he actively participated and led in revival services, church plants, Bible School and youth camps.
Wayne loved music and instilled that in his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved making and eating ice cream, fishing, woodworking, making muscadine jelly and collecting old clocks and watches.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Gussie L. Martin Johnson; his parents, one brother, Earl Johnson; and two sisters, Mildred Johnson Collins and Laverne Johnson Lawson.

He is survived by two sisters, Juanita Johnson Collins of Huntsville, AR and Madge Johnson Ledbetter of Wellington, KS; his son, Ronald W. Johnson and his wife, Sandra of Woodbridge, VA; his daughters, Paula Johnson Olson and her husband, Barry of Fort Worth, TX, and Beth Johnson Christensen and her husband, Mark of Payson, AZ, seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation is from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m., Sunday, April 11, 2021 at the Hardwicke Chapel in Clarksville, AR.
