Jimmy Dean Penn
January 18, 1937 - July 29, 2019
Jimmy D. Penn, 82 of Lynn, died Monday July 29, 2019 at White River Medical Center in Batesville.
He was born January 18, 1937 in Lynn, AR to Dennis Penn & Syble Casper Penn. He graduated in 1954 from Lynn High School. He and his wife of 62 1/2 years, Carolyn, attended Southern Baptist College, now Williams Baptist University. He received his bachelor and masters degree at ASU Vocational Agriculture, then began his teaching career at Oil Trough in 1968.
In 1973 he began teaching at Lynn. He taught 29 years, retiring in 1996. He was row crop, chicken, and cattle farmer. He was a deacon and taught the teenage class for several years at the Lynn Church of Christ. After retiring, he continued to farm. He and Carolyn traveled on several bus tours visiting Colorado, Hawaii, Texas, TN, North Carolina, Virginia, Florida, Italy, New York, Washington D.C., California and places in Arkansas.
He loved country music and enjoyed going to Mountain View to the White River Hoedown festivals and also loved going to Branson. Gene Watson was his #1 country singer.
Jim loved his family and took care of them well. In he past few years, his health began to decline with dementia. He was a resident of Woodlawn Nursing Home in Batesville. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Brenda; brother, Gregg Penn;
Visitation will be Friday August 2, 2019 at the Lynn Church of Christ from 6:00PM-8:00PM.
Funeral services will begin at 2:00PM Saturday August 3, 2019 at the Lynn Church of Christ with officiating.
Burial will be in Dry Creek Cemetery under direction of House-Gregg Funeral Home of Walnut Ridge & Lynn, Arkansas.
