Richard L. Puryear, 79, of Cassville, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2020, at his home.

He was born Sept. 15, 1941, in Wichita, Kan., the son of Robert and Ida Belle (Maddox) Puryear. On April 3, 1981, in Miami, Okla., he was united in marriage to Cindy Cummins, who survives.

Additional survivors include: two sons, Tony Puryear and his wife Lori of Bentonville, Ark., and Matthew Puryear and his wife Michelle of Nashville, Tenn; two stepdaughters, Angela Fysh and her husband Martin of Franklin, Tenn., and Mandy Boring of Monett; one sister, Sue Rotramel and her husband Clint of Wichita, Kan.; a sister-in-law, Linda Puryear of Oklahoma City, Okla.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents and one brother, Jerry Puryear.

He graduated from high school in Gravette, Ark., and took some college classes but then joined the U.S. Air Force. For a few years, he lived in California and moved back to Arkansas, later moving to Kansas where he worked for Emerson Electric from which he retired. After his retirement he moved to Cassville and became a mail carrier for Washburn. He was a member of First Christian Church where he was an Elder and Deacon. No services are scheduled at this time. Cremation arrangements are under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.
