Glynda Jean Stewart died on November 4, 2020, at the age of eighty-eight. She lived in Powhatan, Arkansas, for most of her life.

She was born in Black Rock, Arkansas, on April 5, 1932, to Sampson Dewey Hill and Nema Hufstedler Hill. She was married to Jennings Leon Stewart on September 2, 1950, at Walnut Ridge, Arkansas. She graduated from Black Rock High School in 1950. She earned her Bachelor and Master Degrees at Arkansas State University and began her career as a teacher at Black Rock Elementary School in first grade in 1965. She touched many lives during her teaching career at Black Rock School while teaching first, fifth, and sixth grades; advanced reading; and gifted and talented classes for kindergarten through twelfth grades. After retiring, she and Leon enjoyed making day trips to various places in Arkansas and making yearly trips to Alaska to see the granddaughters. She also enjoyed designing and sewing beautiful quilts and spending time with friends who were quilt makers and fellow China painters. She was a member of the Black Rock Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by Leon, her husband for fifty-three years, her parents, her daughter-in-law Debbie Stewart, and her great-grandson Taylor Evans.

She is survived by one son, Sam, of Abilene, Texas; one daughter and son-in-law, Alan and Rebecca Robinson of Black Rock; three granddaughters, Samantha Evans of Abilene, Texas, Candi Hammett of Clyde, Texas, and Jennifer Shane of Conifer, Colorado; and four great-grandchildren, Kenai Hammett of Clyde, Texas, and Paislee, Jennings, and Landry Shane of Conifer, Colorado.

A private graveside service will be held by the family at Old Lebanon Cemetery in Eaton, Arkansas, under the direction of the House-Gregg Funeral Home.
