Nadine Stewart-Pierce
Nadine Whitlow Stewart-Pierce, 75, of Littlefield, Texas, formerly of Walnut Ridge, died Aug. 16, 2013, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas.
Born Sept. 8, 1937, in Strawberry, she was the daughter of Garland and Bertha Dunlap Whitlow. She was a former manager of the Dairy Queen and a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Walnut Ridge. After moving to Texas, she transferred her membership to Sunset Avenue Baptist Church in Littlefield.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Lloyd Stewart, whom she married Oct. 3, 1955, in Hernando, Miss.; a brother, Earl Whitlow; three sisters, Louise Fears, Mozelle Dulaney and Aleta Wade; a stepdaughter, Liz Polk; and a daughter-in-law, Telisa Stewart.
Survivors include her husband, Burton Pierce, whom she married April 8, 1998, in Walnut Ridge; two sons, Scott Stewart and wife Sherrie, Jonesboro, and Terry Stewart, Burgin, Ky.; two stepsons, Junior Pierce, Gladewater, Texas, and Garland Pierce, Jacksonville, Texas; a stepdaughter, Billie Green, Levelland, Texas; two brothers, Billy Whitlow and Gene Whitlow, both of Black Rock; 18 grandchildren, Braden Stewart, Peyton Stewart, Mylee Stewart, Jennifer Harris, Lisa Brown, Michael Stewart, Rebecca East, Karen Stewart, Krissy Eggleston, Renee Sims, Jamie Polk, Joey Polk, Allen Polk, Sam Polk; Ashley Vurgio, Amy Green, Shane Pierce, Curt Pierce, Crystal Pierce and Matthew Pierce; and several great-grandchildren.
Graveside service is today at 11 a.m. at Oak Forest Cemetery in Black Rock with Shawn Brandon officiating. Cox-Fears Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
