Bennie Carlton Evans, 69, of Greenbrier, Ark., passed at his home surrounded by his loving family on July 3, 2014.
He was born on Feb. 27, 1945, to the late Ralph and Vernice Evans in Quitman, Ark.
Bennie loved spending time with his family, grilling and going fishing. He served in the National Guard and was retired from the tool and die manufacturing industry.
Bennie was also preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, John and Ena Evans; father-in-law, James "Puny" Wilson; and his grandparents, O.B. and Minnie Evans and Steve and Alpha Atterberry.
He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Jean Wilson Evans; their three children, Jeannine Hensley (Gerry), Teresa Dempsey and Bret Evans (Mary); eight grandchildren, Ashlinn Borg (Corey), Lauren Hensley, Trisstian Evans, Bret Tyler Evans, Madison Long, Zoe'Ray Lynn Evans, Victoria Dempsey and Heather Dempsey; three brothers, Dan Evans (Sue), Rick Evans and Tim Evans; and many other loving family members and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2014, at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Greenbrier at 3 p.m., with burial to follow at Centerpoint Cemetery in Quitman.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Evans, Eric Evans, Mark Evans, Bret Evans, Gerry Hensley, Corey Borg, David Wilson and Frederick Brown.
Honorary pallbearers will be Greg Turney, Jerry Appleby, Bruce Ivy, Frederick Dempsey and David Metz.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Monday evening at the funeral home.
The family would like to give a special thanks to his nurse Joyce Pennington, his aide Theresa Ramsey and the supporting staff at Conway Regional Homecare for the care they gave Bennie during his illness.
