SPRINGDALE — Darrell D. Ball, 72, of Springdale, died on Sunday morning, Sept. 10, 2017, at his home after a long, hard battle with heart disease. He was born Dec. 25, 1944, in Johnson, to the late Alvin and Jewell Ball, the youngest of six children.

He attended Springdale High School where he graduated in 1963.

He married his wife, Sue, in 1966 in Miami, Okla. She stayed by his side until his last breath of air.

Darrell retired in 2005 from Kawneer in Springdale. He enjoyed watching horse races, playing solitaire on his computer, doing yard work, cooking on his grill, telling stories and spending time with his kids, grandkids and great-grandkids.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Jim, his sister, June and brother-in-law, Clyde Bohannan and his oldest son, Dwane in 1990.

Darrell is survived by his wife, Sue; son, Chuck and wife Amanda of Atlanta, Ga.; granddaughter, Shandy Lynn of Springdale; granddaughter, Tommie Elizabeth and grandson, Jacob Ellis of Atlanta, Ga.; great-grandsons, Ryker and Cash Johnson of Springdale; brother, Bill Ball and wife Leona of Rogers; brother, Milton Ball and wife Brenda of Springdale; sister, Shirley Gross and husband Roger of Springdale; sister-in-law, Tommie of Springdale; and many, many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13 at Westfield Chapel Funeral Home in Springdale with the funeral on Thursday at 2 p.m. at Westfield Chapel Funeral Home with Harry Fitzgerald officiating. Burial will be at Bluff Cemetery in Springdale.

Pallbearers will be Nicholas Hall Hanthorn, Ronnie Baker, Linden Lewis, Truman Brewer, Brandon Scott, and Johnny Carpenter. Honorary pallbearers will be Ryker Johnson, Cash Johnson, Tommie Carnahan, Jacob Ball, and his beloved Grand-Dogs Eddy and Dexter.

The family would wish to extend their thanks and gratitude to Circle of Life Hospice for all their assistance in these past few weeks.
